CIBIL Workshop on Credit Education (10th August 2015)

Ms. Harshala Chandorkar, Senior Vice President- Consumer Services and Communication, conducted a Voluntary Credit Workshop at IIM Indore on behalf of The Credit Information Bureau (India) Ltd.

In her talk, Ms. Harshala emphasized to the students on the importance of having a good CIBIL TransUnion Score. She talked about the different ways in which a CIBIL score benefits both financial institutions as well as the consumers, giving advantages such as a decrease in processing time of loans, standardization of decisions taken by banks across branches etc. Data Quality was a major challenge that she spoke about. Giving references on how the score is calculated, she also explained how it has led to increasing financial discipline among the people of the country. The session ended with few more inputs on the future scope of CIBIL and the ways to increase one’s ‘credit worthiness’.

Financial Modeling Workshop (11th – 12th January 2015)

Continuing its streak of summer placement preparation activities, the Industry Interaction Cell held a two day workshop on financial modelling on 11th and 12th of January, conducted by Mr. Vamsidhar Ambatipudi, founder of PACE Gurus Hyderabad and alumnus of IIM Indore, Batch of 2001.
 Mr. Vamsi taught the students the best practices while using spreadsheets in the professional context of financial modelling, the pitfalls to avoid and mechanisms to achieve quick and effective results using Microsoft Excel. This rigorous 7 hour workshop was meant to hone the skills of students in spreadsheet modelling in addition to the fundamental course of the same title rolled out to first year PGP participants during their TERM-I.
 In additional to the valuable insights gained, it was worth welcoming an alumnus coming from one of the very early batches of IIM Indore.

Financial Modeling Workshop by Mr. Chaitanya Lele (24th February, 2014)
A Financial modeling workshop was organized in form of a 2-hour session for PGP-1 participants in preparation for their summer internship. The workshop was conducted by Chaitanya Lele, who bagged a PPO from Goldman Sachs, and worked on financial modeling there. The key objective of this session was to learn techniques and methods for conceptualizing and implementing models for Financial Analysis (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash flow), Cost of Capital (WACC), and Business Valuation with focus on Discounted Cash Flow. It was useful from an asset management, M&A and Project Finance perspective as well. As many as 120 participants registered and attended the workshop.

SPSS Workshop by Nmore Consulting (6th – 7th March,2013)

A workshop on SPSS software for Market research was organised for 2 days. Around 100 students were selected for the workshop on FCFS basis. The workshop was conducted by Prof. Uday Bhate from Nmore Consultany, he was assisted by Mr. Ganesh also from Nmore. The fees collected from the students was was used for the travel expenses of the Nmore executives. The extra amount collected was transferred to IIMAAA (Hyderabad Chapter) Charitable Trust, run by Nmore consultancy .
